Dot to Dot- Part II

So after Architecture In Helsinki finished, we found ourselves at a loose end. We decided to decide where to go next with a drink or two at some pub next to The Rescue Rooms.

We had been joined by Kirsty at this point.

After spending pretty much no time dicussing who to go to see next, we decided to head back to Rock City and see what was going on there. Playing in the smaller room downstairs was grime superstar Lethal Bizzle. There didn't seem to be much else going on so we stuck around. And HOLY SHIT, am I glad we did!

Lethal was off the chain! He began by using a sample of It Takes Two more effectively than Fatman Scoop ever did

And then there was Oi! Lethal Bizzle is one of Morefire Crew! In fact, all four of the guys on stage are fucking Morefire Crew! I could have died, such was my excitement

Bizz also performed his new single, Bizzle Bizzle. When he said "What's my name?" We said "BIZZLE BIZZLE!" Oh my god I am getting goosepimples just remembering how good it was

Bizzle saved the best song to last, performing Pow!, in my opinion the best song ever. In terms of grime/Urban/Garage. What the fuck is this genre of music even called?

I'm gonna take the advice of Lethal's Myspace and call it Rap / Hip Hop / Garage. Whatever the genre, it fucking rules. Because I expected nothing from Lethal but got so much, I am awarding his set 10/10! BIZZLE BIZZLE. I love Lethal Bizzle.

Guess who was next...

Next up was the headliners, The Cribs. Being Yorkshire boys like myself, I have a soft spot for The Cribs and their silly accents. And their music isn't bad either. While waiting for them, I began to feel very ill. By the time they came on I felt like I was going to collapse. So I gave up my very good spot at the front to get some water

I decided against trying to get back to the front. Instead, I hung around the sides trying to pass myself of as a proper photographer so I could get right in the band's face. I managed to get pretty close but was dragged back by the security before I could get any pictures

Whenever a crowdsurfer was ejected (Which was roughly every 4 seconds) the bouncers would drag them to the fire exit, where a waiting bouncer was using way more force than was required. He was pretty much beating people up, which was waaaaay out of order

After about 10 minutes of hanging around the side of the stage, I got tired of being barged out of the way by over-zealous bouncers so I decided to walk around to the back and onto the balcony. It took me a while to find the balcony stairs, to the point where I wandered into the female toliets by accident and got a very dirty look from some girl

It was around the time I began my walk about that I realised I was paying absolutely no attention to the music. And the music I had paid attention to was a bit average really. The Cribs were proving to be a big disappointment.

I decided to leave this gig and see if Gallows were still playing. Sadly, they weren't. So I found Jamie and we went back to The Cribs. Not long after we got in, they played Mirror Kissers, they only time during the whole set I actually enjoyed the music

So after a day of anticipation, The Cribs were crap. Well, not crap as such. I didn't even listen to half of it. But that's the problem. It wasn't that interesting. Other than Mirror Kissers, it was a disappointment. Cribs get 7/10, only because Mirror Kissers is a top tune. Otherwise it would have been 6.

So that was it for live bands. All that was left was the 4 hours until our coach home. After The Cribs ended, me and Jamie headed to the student union so he could watch Bearsuit. I sat there and got a bit sad and counted down the minutes before I turned 20 years old. Then I completely crashed for 3 hours and felt more tired than I have ever felt in my life. When I got a second wind, I headed to Stealth/Rescue Rooms to find Neil and Leone and other people.

It was at this point the flash on my camera broke, so I had to stop taking pics.

Dot to Dot was a lot of fun. A bloody bargain as well.

BIZZLE BIZZLE!
